Strategically Located Moorings
Safe, reliable mooring solutions supporting NYS Marine operations in NY Harbor, Jamaica Bay, and the NYS Canal System.
ACOE-Permitted Moorings
Safe, reliable mooring solutions supporting NYS Marine operations in NY Harbor, Jamaica Bay, and the NYS Canal System.
Our Bay Ridge Flats (BRM) mooring supports tug and barge operations serving the Ports of New York and New Jersey, lower Hudson River and Long Island Sound. This location allows multi-barge river tows arriving from upriver to be staged, indexed, and reduced into single or double-barge tows, enabling efficient delivery to terminals operating on the tide. By breaking down larger river tows in Upper New York Harbor, we accommodate tide-dependent scheduling and provide just-in-time deliveries.
The Jamaica Bay mooring supports efficient marine transportation operations between NY Harbor and Jamaica Bay stone and asphalt terminals. The location facilitates our ability to deliver multi-barge tows between our Bay Ridge Flats moorings and our Jamaica Bay Mooring to be staged while waiting for tide and berth ability.
Above the Troy Federal Lock, at the head of tidal navigation on the Hudson River, NYS Marine maintains a stake boat mooring that supports our canal system operations. The stake boat enables the exchange of light and loaded barges during periods when the ACOE Troy Lock is closed, supporting continuous operations, efficient fleet utilization, and coordination of canal system traffic at this critical transition point.
